Objective

As a result of a growing world population and globally rising economic output, the worldwide demand for raw materials is increasing. In the research project ReLIFE, the adaptive remanufacturing approach is used to increase resource efficiency by extending the life cycle of capital goods.
For this purpose, a prototype application is being developed on a real capital good. Furthermore, business models based on Adaptive Remanufacturing are developed, which enable companies to generate competitive advantages. Thus, the prerequisites for the successful implementation of the approach in industry are created. Remanufacturing approaches are developed based on methodological and theoretical principles. In parallel, guidelines for a product design with a focus on integrated, digital sensor technologies will be developed and implemented in a demonstrator. Based on this, an evaluation model for decision support regarding the optimal use of remanufacturing measures will be designed and implemented in a software application. The results obtained will be validated by means of a demonstrator.
The project goals of ReLIFE are divided into technological, scientific, economic and methodological goals.
